We have been so blessed with our friends and colleagues at WPPI. Since joining in 2005 and first attending in 2006, many of our closest friendships have sprung from this wonderful organization of wedding and portrait photographers. We consider it a true honor that they asked us to be WPPI's November Studio of the Month.

Prashi Shah & Suraj Jagannathan

Prashi Shah laughs when she tells the story of how she met her husband. Suraj Jagannathan was sitting alone at the Deep Ellum bar where she'd gone to hear music. But a calendar mix-up meant that the band she expected to hear wasn't playing, though his cousin's was, which was just as well because no one else showed. With little else to do, the pair started to talk.

Their differences were apparent. She's in fashion; he was a sports director. His family is originally from South India; hers is from Bombay, in the North. But they proved the adage that opposites attract. Two years later, on July 6, 2007, an auspicious day because of its relation to their horoscopes (most Hindu weddings take place when the stars are perfectly aligned), they were married.

As is typical in Indian culture, the wedding lasted four days, July 4-7, incorporating customs from both North and South India, with the occasional contemporary twist--and a dazzling wardrobe designed by Prashi for herself, the groom, flowergirl, family members, and some of her guests.

[[WPPI_Award_Winners]]

David was blessed to be awarded Second place in the Commercial category in the 16x20 competition this past year in Vegas. In the first half 8x10 competition David placed both First and Second in the Seniors category. This is really special to us as we limit the number of Seniors that we shoot each year to five. To win two awards is amazing because it is not something we specialize in!
